On her wedding day, Xue Xiangling receives a precious embroidered pouch, known as the Suolin Nang, from her mother as part of her dowry. Caught in a rainstorm during her bridal procession, she encounters another bride, an impoverished woman surnamed Zhao, and generously gives her the pouch. Six years later, a devastating flood separates Xiangling from her family, forcing her to work as a servant in the Lu household. There, she discovers her treasured pouch displayed on a family altar and realizes that the mistress of the house is the very woman she once helped.
