2024 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Manuel Machado, one of the most significant Andalusian poets and playwrights associated with Spain’s Generation of ’98. Overshadowed by his brother Antonio, born a year later, and often unfairly overlooked for reasons beyond literature, Manuel Machado deserves renewed attention and recognition. His work places him among the 20th century’s key writers, championing a poetry deeply rooted in Andalusian traditions and popular culture. The discovery in 2021 of *La diosa Razón*, an unpublished play co-written by Manuel and Antonio Machado shortly before the Spanish Civil War drove them permanently apart, was a major literary event that deserves to be brought to light.
