Oh Jung-woong is a South Korean Composer who studied under Jung Hyun-soo at the Seoul Arts Center’s Academy for Young Musicians, Choi Woo-jeong in the Department of Composition at Seoul National University, and P.Q. Phan and Elisabeth Wright at Indiana University. Having earned a diploma in harpsichord from Indiana University, he maintains an ongoing interest in the harpsichord and early music, while also remaining deeply engaged in work involving microtonality. He views emotion as the central pillar of music—regarding it as the fundamental, indivisible unit of musical expression, and as a reality that can be articulated more effectively through music than through language—and he strives to embody this philosophy within his own musical compositions.
